I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my review. Thank you NetGalley!
Let me just start off by mentioning how gorgeous the cover is.
Now back to business. Overall, a very entertaining read. We are instantly introduced to Lila and her horrible family situation, and we almost immediately feel empathetic towards her. However, as the story goes on, we lose that touch with her. She becomes almost self-absorbed and we, as readers, lose that connection with Lila. For a large part of the book. it is all about James. I wished there would have been more answers on what their effect on each other was. It seems like such an integral part of their relationship that keeps being scurried about in the book.
Finally, the finale was good. I wish it had ended right at the action, however. The last few sentences almost give the reader time to gather their thoughts, whereas finishing a paragraph earlier would have left the reader dumbfounded.
