THE BAR NEXT DOOR - KATIA ROSE

Katia Rose always brings her A game with her writing. I have yet to come across a book of hers I didn’t love. She has this charisma that jumps off the page with her writing. Its light but at the same time profound. It’s fun but meaningful.

The Bar Next Door is no exception. Unique characters, original storyline, and great writing. This book has it all. Witt, humour, but also memorable quotes and references.

Monroe and Julien are everything. They zing with electricity, they FEEL REAL. They are your typical people next door. Maybe that’s because I can picture everything about this novel being set where I live, but there’s something so tangible about this story.

Whenever I think of a Katia Rose book, I simply have the biggest smile on my face. There is such a joy that inhibits me when I immerse myself in one of her stories.

Here’s to many more! I cannot wait!

I received an ARC of this book form the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you Katia Rose!

This author guys... She is a gem. She has become an author that I will read anything she publishes, because every single time, I am taken by surprise by how GOOD her books are. I always have the nagging voice in my mind saying, this trope has been done over and over again and it might be cheesy, and Rose ALWAYS makes that voice shut up with her awesome words. She takes a classic story and turns it into something unique.

There is the perfect amount of sweetness, angst and sexiness in this book. The characters will capture your heart, Ace will make you either want to swoon, hug him, or strangle him, and you will fall victim to his story in the most beautiful way possible.

Not only is the romance A+ in this novel, but the attention to detail to the culture of the setting is commendable. The author truly captured the essence of Montreal. Of its cultural diversity, its tensions, and complexity.

So, once again, Katia Rose has knocked it out of the ballpark!

If you have yet to pick up a Katia Rose book, shame on you. This is the third book I’ve read of hers, and every time I fall in love with the story. Every time I am impressed. And every time, I find myself wanting to share this book with all my book friends.

First of all, I have to say that I absolutely loved that this book was set in my home city of Montreal. There’s something special about reading a book and being able to know what and where they are talking about. It’s weird how even the slightest details were present. The newspaper guys at the metro stations forcing their papers in your hands, the frigid winds downtown, the importance of places like Metropolis. The frequent “franglais” as we call it, coupled with jouale made this book believable. And she also got somebody else right: Montreal is a music city. We are proud of our music scene here and she was able to transfer that into the book.

I fell in love with the plot and characters of this book. I connected with them almost instantly, and after the first chapter, I knew this book would be a winner. Rock musician romance? Yes please. Poetic commentary on music? Mhmm - chill worthy honestly. There is a certain honestly to Katia Rose’s writing, and you can’t help but fall for it.

One last thing I’d like to mention is Rose’s versatility. The three novels she’s written are all COMPLETELY different from each other yet all great reads. I think this one takes it away as my favourite though.

I received an ARC of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you Katia Rose!

I have to say that this author is quickly becoming part of my staple author list - the list from which I read all of the author's books. This is my second read by Rose, and I find myself very fond of her lighthearted and sassy writing. Just because she constantly makes me smile and giggle, it does not mean that she does not integrate important and serious subject matter.

First of all, I loved the Portuguese sprinkled liberally throughout the novel. It gave diversity, depth, and well extra sass to our main character Christina. I connected with Christina because I saw a lot of me in her. She is goal driven, strives for perfection, and knows what she wants.

I liked how Rose took on the old school all male boardroom trope. It is something she also explored in Latte Girl, and I think it works well. Although she does explore the same trope, she approaches it in different ways. I liked how she also alluded to feminism on two different fronts.

A definite recommendation by me!

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Katia Rose!

This was so cute! When the author says she like her romances smart and steamy, she wasn't kidding. Her characters were witty, intelligent, and funny. While reading the first chapter, I laughed approximately at four different scenes.

I loved how this story was about following your heart, and creating your own path, and not the one your parents set out for you. It's about staying true to yourself, and not being afraid to break from normality and doing what you want to do; forgetting about the rational, and following your passion. I think that that is really relevant nowadays in society. Our generation feels pressured to go into fields that don't interest us simply because our parents think those are the only acceptable ones (not speaking from experience).

Anyway, I haven't even hit the romance part yet *wink*. Oh my god, that declaration was super original and heart warming. Katia Rose, you have officially raised the bar. I don't think the male humans like you very much now.

I would have liked to have had a scene with Amanda and Jordan just for the hell of it, because that little human is the best, but other than that, really well done!
