I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
This book has potential. I usually love these kinds of books and can never get enough of them, however I wasn't able to get into it until the end. I believe this is due to the fact that it wasn't concise enough to my liking. The first three quarters of the novel seemed to drag on a little - to the point where I had to force myself to continue reading. It also appeared to me that the writing slightly changed in the last quarter to be more enticing, which made me crave more only when it was over. It is possible that the writing distribution of the book may have been off - less of the traveling to even out the amount of rescuing would have been ideal.
In addition, I never understood what Zel was doing at the ball. If someones was tracking someone for four years, why would they go to a ball? That just seemed ofd to me. Don't get me wrong, I liked Zel and how original his power was, but his involvement in the beginning of the story is questionable.
Overall, this book, with some work, could be so much better.
