I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Give Me Books!
This was my first L.P. Lovell book, and it will definitely not me my last. This was a short novella, but it really transported me from the first page. I was hooked and I am so desperately hungry for the continuation of Una's story.
I always enjoy these story lines where there is suspense, mafia, violence and a badass chick involved, and this book delivered BIG TIME. I loved the darkness of the writing and the intensity of the plot and character relations. Every single word seemed on the edge of something, as if one wrong move would destroy everything. I have no idea if my impression makes sense, but I am just going to assume it does and roll with it.
Lovell is extremely talented. With a very short amount of words, she is able to create a concise yet real story which makes you feel all the things a full length novel can; fear for the characters, pain, sadness, happiness, empathy, etc. I am so in awe at the moment that I cannot seem to formulate better sentences.
