This book was unlike any other I had read, and I completely enjoyed it. This book is classified as "noir" and that is super appropriate. When I read this book, I pictured everything as a noir film; with the filter and ambiance. That truly demonstrates how the author is able to give off a consistent mood with her words.
Now, this book is not all roses, and hugs, and picnics. Not at all. This is disturbing, violent, dark, crime and I relished it. When you read, you will most likely be pushed out of your comfort zone - in a good way if you dig this kind of book.
The only criticism I would have for this book, would be that it read slightly two dimensionally. I wished there would have been more substance to the book, more "meat" if you will, but other than that, it was well executed.
I felt as though the author represented well the MC life. She didn't glamorize it in any way. It was raw, gritty, and honest, with no fluff. I look forward to the sequel!
