I received an ARC from NetGalley and Thomas Nelson-Fiction. Thank you both!
At this very moment, I have a million thoughts about this book running through my head. Did I like this book? Yes. Did I love it? Sadly, no.
The main reason why I didn't love it was because of the plot. I felt like it was dragged out and could have been more condensed and concise. The middle part of the book seemed like it was a whole lot of nothing. It seems like a lot if the book was a "set-up" for the end. Now, I know that that is how storeys are structured, but it was as if the first three quarters of the book was the introduction. It was all quite flat, in my opinion.
The reason why I DID like this book is Nym's character development. I really liked how after she did what she did, it changed her and she was fighting an internal battle. I really enjoyed how the lines between good and evil; being powerful and too powerful were blurred and explored. If your intentions are good, are the methods you use to achieve your goal dismissible? THAT is the true question, and a valid one that is addressed in this book.
Overall, good read, but slightly longer than it should have been.
