I received an ebook of this novel from the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you Pam Godwin!
After reading book one, I was intrigued by Van, but I didn’t think I would like him. I didn’t think he would melt my heart. I didn’t think he would make me swoon so hard. But he did, or more precisely, Pam Godwin did.
Amber is an OCD agoraphobic and Godwin portrayed the disorders with such accuracy and such skill. My heart would race when Amber’s did, and I would get nervous when something happened that made Amber nervous. Godwin has a knack for capturing the essence of certain issues and verbalizing them beautifully.
There is never a dull moment in this book. There is always a challenge waiting to be overcome, a new development, a crisis, a setback, a revelation, yet nothing is rushed. The pace of this book is just so perfect. It is set in a realistic timeline; there are no instant changes in characters. The character development is just so damn well done, that Godwin deserves an award.
Godwin makes me question my sanity at times. Why am I enjoying reading all these terrible, terrible things? Why do I love the utter darkness? Why do I find it sexy? That’s when you know you’ve found a go-to author.
