I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you J. A. Owenby!
I thought that this novella was well executed, concisely written, and very structured, in the sense that the author's ideas were well defined and written out in the most efficient manner; which is what one wants when reading/writing a novella.
I think that for me, who hasn't read the Truth series prior to this novella, I had a little trouble connecting with Walter at first. I hadn't had this pre-existing love for him as a character, and it took me while to start routing for him. Maybe it's s because I'm a goody two shoes, and was never a wild teenager, who knows.
This, however, does not negate the great character development present in this short novella. It is often hard with such a limited amount of pages to give complex life to a fictional character, but Owenby has pulled it off. Owenby is a highly skilled writer I am sure to continue reading works of!
