I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Leigh Christopher!
I was blown away by this story. I had previously read books through the perspective of someone with a mental illness, but never were they as captivating and skillfully written as this one. You could really distinguish the two personalities in Tia's head, and experience a fragment of the interior battle she must've been going through. You could even almost feel the stress this second voice caused our main character. The fear of herself and what she was capable of doing was also strongly showcased. When it comes to realism with this book, the author nailed it.
To accompany this skillful writing, was a captivating plot. The author always kept me on the edge of my seat wanting answers, wanting closure. I've got to say, there were a few times in the novel where I was taken completely aback *claps for an awkward thirty full seconds*.
And what is a great, dark themed novel without a great salvation-bringing romance. Brax and Tia are two completely broken people who are scared to show their demons, and who are looking for closure. This intense relationship complements the plot line perfectly, not taking anything away from the story, but adding to its integrity.
I must say, I am so impressed by this author. Where have they been all my life?
