What a touching novel by Regina Puckett. It was short and filled to the brims with warmth and love the two main characters had for each other. Her novel truly demonstrated that despite being set at a time when marriages were business transactions and contracts, it so happened that two people could find love.
Puckett also touches upon the immorality and inhumanness of the top of the aristocratie; how power hungry and entitled so many of them feel; how they are blinded by titles. It is clearly demonstrated on multiple occasions that these members of society will stop at nothing to achieve what they set out to do.
I enjoyed how Puckett alludes to the fact that being yourself and not forcing yourself to fit the mould society expects you fit, you can not only find happiness, but love. I think that this is even true today; that people are oppressed and sculpted bu society, when in reality, we should just be ourselves.
Overall, a great, heart warming book that proves that love and kindness conquer all.
