**spoiler alert** This book was surprisingly entertaining! Usually when there's the whole "character is special she's half-good-half-bad/half-warden-half-demon, it gets cliché and boring. However, this book was none of those things. It kept me captivated throughout the read.
The main character was not one of those, let's let the others do all the work cause I'm to special to do jack. She took the bull by the horns and was actively involved in the plot. Also, she wasn't moping about guys all the time like other YA books, she knew there were more important things to think about.
The world the author created was original well thought out. The "Familiars" were so f-ing cool, I mean, who didn't think of that before, it's ingenious. There was also the whole "let's put back into question if good and evil are as clear as black and white?" Although this was a big part of the book, it was a subdued theme. It was always at the back of your mind, but never in your face.
All in all, this book was original and exciting. I recommend it!
