This makes me really excited, because this is a real step up for Robinson. As his first fantasy novel, The Last Whisperer is full of promise. Robinson has given us a complex and original world which he carefully and meticulously built, characters which you grow attached to and route for, and fantastic(al) DRAMA.

Robinson has not only written a good novel, but created a doorway for so many different story lines with the characters. As much as this is a, what I call, "set-up"book for the sequel, this does not read as one. There is plenty of action, revelation, and excitement.

I totally forgot to mention. The type of magic in this book is so cool and original! It's extremely hard to be original nowadays, but Robinson has managed it!

I believe Robinson has finally found his stride, and am extremely excited to read the second one!

This book had a great concept. The outline for the plot is solid, and the characters are likeable. Their unintentional goofiness made my giggle and smile on multiple occasions.

I like how Robinson writes from the male's perspective and demonstrates just how frazzled males truly are. It's amusing and really cute!

What I felt this novel lacked was intensity. What I mean by that is that whenever there would be a build-up to a scene where I was like, "OMG something really thrilling is going to happen", such as a gone-wrong encounter, or a make-or-break moment, the scene is question lacked emphasis. It would just fall flat. If those said scenes had more "umph", this book would be much more captivating.

Apart from that, I liked the story, and look forward to reading more of J.C. Robinson's work!

This was a really light and cute read. The love story between Will and Kristen was extremely caring, and lighthearted. I liked how they were genuinely good people, who were there to support each other. At some point, the author mentioned Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls, and I got super excited! It's one of my favourite songs. Although that was completely irrelevant I wanted to mention it.

The whole one year left was a little iffy for me. I would have liked to have seen a greater contrast in character in Will from the beginning until the end. I felt like his character lacked development. The same could be said about Kristen, however, less so in her case.

I would have liked to see a bit mire of an emphasis on the food truck. It appears to want to be a central part of the story, yet it doesn't come across as such. If more time was spent on the business of the food truck, or the workings if it, it would have added another dimension to the story.

Overall, this book has potential! Good work by J.C. Robinson.
